Film Festival Win!!

February 14, 2015 by Sheraden Leave a Comment

Peninsula Film Festival

A little off the subject of food but if you have read the ‘About Me’ section of my blog you will know that a very important part of my life is producing animated short films (and a children’s television show we have been working on) and last weekend we had another film festival win! We won Best Animation at the Peninsula Film Festival in Victoria for our film ‘A Wagga Wagga Winter Tale’.

My husband and I flew down to Melbourne for the weekend and hired a car on the Saturday to drive to Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsula for the festival that night. It was a fantastic evening!! Around 4000 people attended and it was a really great atmosphere.

Films in the animation category were played first and then the winner was announced (us – yay!!) so the pressure was off early and we were able to relax in the  VIP section and enjoy the rest of the films.

The festival is run by Australian actor, Steve Bastoni and all the MC and judges were celebrities as well as some of the guests so I was able to have my photo taken with some of them. My husband was teasing me about chasing the limelight but I’m OK with that – how often do you get the chance to?

Such and exciting and enjoyable night and now we have to work hard to try and get another film selected as a finalist for next year. If we do, we would definitely make the trip down again.

The photo above is me with 3 of the judges: Jane Hall, Nadine Garner and Michala Banas. They were all so friendly and generous with their time. The MC, Tania Zaetta was also very lovely and really interested in our film which made me feel great.

Up on stage making my speech in front of 4000 people!! I hadn’t prepared anything because I didn’t think we were going to win (always the optimist!!).
